WELCOME TO FIRST LUTHERAN CHURCH FLORALA
WELCOME TO FIRST LUTHERAN CHURCH FLORALA
Our church is dedicated to helping people strengthen their faith and develop a deeper relationship with God. We offer a variety of programs and services to support individuals and families on their spiritual journey. From Sunday worship services and youth groups to adult Bible studies and community outreach initiatives, we are committed to providing a welcoming and inclusive environment where everyone can grow in their faith.
On our Church sign are the three letters, “UAC”. This stands for “Unaltered Augsburg Confession.” These three words mean that we, along with historical Lutheranism, hold to the original text of the Augsburg Confession, as it was presented on June 25th, 1530.
On June 25th, in the year 1530, the Augsburg Confession was presented before Emperor Charles V, as a summary of the teachings of Holy Scripture. This Augsburg Confession has become the fundamental symbol of the Lutheran church. When the complete Book of Concord was published in 1580, it was intentionally released on June 25th to honor the fiftieth anniversary of the Augsburg Confession.
Rev. Dr. Ballard served in the U.S. Air Force as a chaplain for 13 years where he achieved the rank of major. Major Ballard was last assigned to the 96 Test Wing at the Eglin Air Force Base, Fl.
He graduated from Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Rev. Dr. Ballard celebrated his 20th year in ministry here at First Lutheran Florala. Before coming to serve in Florala, Rev. Dr. Ballard served a dual vicarage at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mobile, AL and Bethel Lutheran Church in Point Clear, AL.
